STREET SIGNS

Castings in polyurethane, aluminium or bronze.

Signs of the Times manufacture and supply street signs in a variety of formats and styles ranging through traditional 'London' styles, detailed signs with city crests, or plain die pressed aluminium signs on stands.

The majority of councils that we supply to choose long lasting cast signs manufactured from polyurethane, an inert material that is not suceptible to the problem of rust that the original cast iron signs eventually fell victim to.

With all detail in relief polyurethane castings can be decorative or just plain practical, with a choice of fonts they can be made to fit into the small rural village or a large modern city complex.  Detail can be added such as a city or county coat of arms and of course the usual symbols such as the 'T' denoting a cul de sac.

For information regarding  die-pressed aluminium signs with or without a stand see our web page in Street Furniture.

Choice of style can change the image of a town or city complex.  By the use of different letter styles, colours and sign shapes you can set the look for your project.

A traditional letter style such as Times New Roman as in the above example BERKLEY HALL is by far the most popular, but changing to a non serif font as on MANTON ROAD a clean cut 'city' image is achieved.

All of Signs of the Times' work is bespoke and special projects are often undertaken such as replicating an old London street sign as illustrated below.

Some parish councils opt to have their name added to their signs and to have them finished in an appropriately rural green and gold, whilst others go for highly visible white backgrounds with black text.

Signs of Times also take into consideration customers who require a casting in a more traditional material and will manufacture street signs using exactly the same time tested methods  substituting aluminium or even bronze for polyurethane.

As with font and sign shape colour is not a design limitation.  Traditional gold or white on black always looks smart, but for a modern look a white painted non serif font on a grey background is striking.
